Alda De Barros

for Vice-President

Alda is a very dedicated person who has been advocating for staff since 2010. She is trusted by the staff who came to know her experience, trustable engagement and full involvement in different successful activities within different teams, as a person who fights for a better world environment. Despite having secured her Continuing Appointment since 2013, she yet passionately took the role to advocate for staff’s right in the downsizing process.

She joined the United Nations in 1990 first as a Principal Assistant then changed to an Administrative Assistant before she became a Personal Assistant. She takes each and every important issue to the attention of the Senior Management and works closely with all staff members, Senior Management and other members of the Union to ensure that staff voices are taken and heard far away. She believes in negotiations in a fair, impartial and meaningful dialogue in the benefit of who trust her to ensure that all matters related to staff rights, contractual arrangements, standards of living, the Internal Justice System, welfare and downsizing processes are correctly addressed. She believes in serving with complete impartiality and ensuring that all matters are transparent.

Alda deeply believes that as human beings who give away their personal dreams and family lives to work in hardship and dangerous situations, staff deserves to be always treated with dignity and respect and that, even when experiencing some unexpected adversities, staff should remain believing and keeping the hope.

I don’t know personally the team but I rely on the comment of other colleagues and I think this could be an excellent team of FSU to defend staff rights.

I have worked with Helal in the FSU and I am aware of the dedication to staff issues that Helal will bring to the Union. I believe The TrustMe Team is best placed to handle the staff concerns during this period of time.
