Manifesto
					Social Security
In the context of the increasing risk of job losses, we shall engage to protect and promote staff social security measures such as a better Pension Management and Health and Life insurances, in and especially after service.
We shall call for the eligibility of staff and revisit the modality for After Service Health Insurance (ASHI), even for those who are not on a monthly pension benefit. We shall pursue the establishment of a UN Health and Life Insurance Committee focused on the field to satisfy the needs of staff which are different from that at HQ.
The General Assembly, in January 2019, voted a landmark resolution to fix problems at the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). There is certainly a need to remain vigilant as the Pension Fund is our only form of social security after retirement.
In the context of increasing downsizing risks and the higher possibility of termination for staff who have less than 5 years of service, we shall pursue that withdrawal settlements for those staff do not deprive them from the contribution portion of the organization.
